If it does not play straight away
Do I need an app to scan a TraceSound glyph?
No. This page is the scanner. It works in the web browser of any modern phone, and whoever scans does not need an account.
Why will my glyph not scan?
Most often it is light or distance. Move closer so the glyph fills the frame, avoid glare and harsh shadows, hold the phone parallel to the surface, and keep still for a second. Curved surfaces and fresh tattoos read best when viewed straight on.
Does scanning need the internet?
Yes. The glyph carries a private key, and your phone uses it to fetch the recording, so a connection is needed. The glyph owner can also download the audio to play offline.
Will this glyph still play in 20 years?
That is the Forever Promise: one payment and no renewals, a share of our profits set aside to keep recordings online, the audio always downloadable by its owner, and a written plan should TraceSound ever stop.
Is my camera recording me?
No. The camera feed is read on your phone to find the glyph's shape, and nothing is recorded or uploaded — only a one-way fingerprint of the glyph's key is sent to look up the recording.
